Gospel singer Selina Boateng has delivered a heartfelt message to critics who judge ministers and gospel artistes based on their failed marriages, stressing that divorce does not disqualify one’s calling or diminish their ministry.
In a candid conversation with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, August 18, 2025, the Alpha and Omega hitmaker revealed her frustration at how judgmental society has become towards gospel musicians whose marriages break down.
“Divorce comes with a lot of issues but I can say boldly that it doesn’t affect our ministry because we are human beings working for God. We are not perfect. The focus is on making an impact on people’s lives,” she emphasized.
Selina explained that many people assume failed marriages equal spiritual failure, but she insists that is not biblical. “There is no way Gospel musicians cannot minister to people just because they have a broken home. Are we saying those who fail in marriage are not going to heaven? That’s not written anywhere,” she said.
The Weight of Judgment
Selina further criticized the culture of public condemnation. “Even the Bible frowns on judging others. You don’t know what triggered the problems people are going through. Divorce is often beyond an individual’s control and can cause deep emotional and psychological scars. Instead of criticizing, society should show support.”
She lamented that society often presumes anyone facing divorce is spiritually weak or sinful. “We need to pray for such people and help them heal, not drive them further away,” she urged.
Two Decades of Ministry
Beyond speaking out on divorce, Selina revealed she is preparing to celebrate 22 years in gospel music with the third edition of her annual concert, Throne Room Experience, in September.
Reflecting on her journey, she credited her longevity to God’s grace:
“God has given me strength and everything to impact lives, and that’s my focus. Being consistent as a gospel artiste for 22 years is by His mercies. His grace has held me till now.”
The concert, she hinted, will be more than just music. “God will be there to touch lives. We aim to make a spiritual impact—it’s not just about the line-up,” she said with conviction.
A Voice of Hope
Selina Boateng’s message is clear: one’s calling is not nullified by life’s storms. In her story lies a reminder that failure in one area of life does not erase purpose. For her, the focus remains unwavering—ministering through music, spreading hope, and impacting souls.
