Crime Check CEO Dismisses Rumours of Assault on Nana Agradaa in Police Custody

The Chief Executive Officer of the Crime Check Foundation, Mr. Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, has firmly dismissed swirling rumours that popular televangelist Patricia Asiedua—widely known as Nana Agradaa or Evangelist Mama Pat—was physically assaulted while in police custody.

Social media was abuzz last week with claims that Agradaa had been attacked by fellow inmates, supposedly some of the same people she had allegedly defrauded through her controversial "Sika Gari" money-doubling scheme.

But speaking in an interview on Okay FM, Mr. Oppong Kwarteng set the record straight, calling the reports completely false and misleading.

“There is absolutely no truth to these claims,” he said. “Evangelist Patricia Asiedua has not been attacked in custody. These rumours should be dismissed outright.”

He went on to explain that the structure and security protocols in detention facilities make such encounters highly unlikely. According to him, inmates are kept under strict supervision, and any chance of Agradaa coming into contact with victims of her alleged scam while behind bars is virtually impossible.

Adding to his argument, Mr. Oppong Kwarteng noted that the alleged incident was said to have happened on Friday, July 4, 2025—a public holiday in Ghana. On such days, movement within detention centers is typically limited, further casting doubt on the possibility of any altercation.

Nana Agradaa is currently serving a 15-year sentence after being convicted on multiple counts of defrauding people under false pretenses related to her controversial spiritual and financial practices. Meanwhile, her legal team has filed for bail pending an appeal, which is now under consideration by the courts.
